What is Intense Pulsed Light?
Intense Pulsed Light or IPL is an advanced broad spectrum light source that is applied over the skin to treat a variety of blemishes. FAQs
Does an IPL treatment hurt?
The treatment is quite tolerable, with very little discomfort. The pulse of the light is often referred to the feeling of a warm snap of a rubber band. A cooling gel is applied at the time of treatment to provide the patient comfort.
Will I see results after one treatment?
While you may see improvement in the appearance of your skin after one treatment, on average, 3 to 5 treatment sessions are required every 4 to 6 weeks to achieve an optimal response.
Is there downtime or any side effects associated with IPL?
There is little to no downtime, as the patient can resume their normal, daily lifestyle within a matter of hours following an IPL treatment. After treatment, a mild sunburn-like reaction may occur. Your skin may be photosensitive for 48 to 72 hours, so it is important to stay out of the sun during this time. When treating skin growths or brown spots, redness and crusting can take 5 to 7 days to resolve.
